When is the program offered and where? Food is provided on a first-come-first-served basis Monday-Thursday from 11:30am-12:30pm. Know that cars start lining up early in the morning along the front driveway of First Baptist Church-West at 1801 Oaklawn Avenue.

How can you offer this service? What had happened was...the COVID-19 pandemic was in full swing and staff had gotten restless staying at home. We wanted to give back to the community and we knew that seniors in particular were concerned about going to stores for food. In June 2020, we started offering the Grab & Go service and pretty soon Mecklenburg County's Senior Nutrition Department came along to help fund the program. And that's how history was made!.

What kind of food is served? We try to keep it healthy and tasty. That means some days it may be a non-meat meal of macaroni and cheese, a salad and watermelon. Or, there's our world-famous chicken salad on croissant! And don't forget Chicken Alfredo and Pasta. Or for just a bit of something sweet, we might even throw in a mini cinnamon roll. But we always have a protein, a vegetable, a fruit and a grain offering.
